A Glittering Salute To The American Musical<\/span>\u201d- Career Transition For Dancers\u2019<\/i>,<\/span> 23rd<\/sup> Anniversary Jubilee<\/i><\/b> on Monday, October 27 at 7pm at New York City<\/st1:PlaceName> Center<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place>, 131 West 55 Street (bet. 7 & 6 Aves). <\/span>Two of the honorees for the Gala are Brian Heidtke<\/b> and Tommy Tune<\/b>. <\/span><\/span>Multi award-winning actress Angela Lansbury <\/b>will host the Gala, which will be followed by an Anniversary Supper with the Stars at Hilton New York<\/st1:place><\/st1:State>\u2019s Grand Ballroom. <\/span>\u201cON BROADWAY! A Glittering Salute to the American Musical\u201d<\/em><\/i><\/b>, <\/em>is a glorious historical journey inside the Broadway musical seen through the eyes of legendary choreographers. The Gala will be the entertainment-dance event of the new season; accompanied by the Jubilee Orchestra with appearances by dance companies, dancers, stars and many surprises. <\/span><\/span>It is produced and directed by Ann Marie DeAngelo.

Tommy Tune<\/span><\/b> <\/span>is the recipient of an unprecedented nine Tony Awards in 4 different categories plus, among other accolades, 8 Drama Desk Awards, 2 Obie Awards, 2 Astaire Awards, American Dance Award, Drama League Award, and the George Abbott Award for Lifetime Achievement. Tommy first danced onto Broadway in the chorus of \u201cBaker Street<\/st1:address><\/st1:Street>\u201d, <\/i> <\/span>followed by \u201cA Joyful Noise\u201d,<\/i> \u201cHow Now Dow Jones\u201d<\/i> and \u201cSeesaw\u201d <\/i>(1st<\/sup> Tony). <\/span>He directed \u201cThe Club\u201d<\/i> then on to B\u2019way, as choreographer and co-director on \u201cThe Best Little Whorehouse in Texas<\/st1:State>\u201d<\/i> followed by \u201cA Day in Hollywood<\/st1:City>\/A Night in the Ukraine<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>\u201d<\/i> (Tony). <\/span>Other shows are \u201cCloud 9<\/i>\u201d; \u201cNine, The Musical\u201d<\/i> (Tony). A double Tony Award win for \u201cMy One and Only\u201d<\/i>. \u201cGrand Hotel\u201d<\/i> followed with 2 more Tony wins; and the following year Mr. Tune did what no artist had done before when he won the same two prestigious honors back to back for \u201cThe Will Rogers Follies\u201d<\/i>. <\/span>Tommy returned to perform his one-man song and dance show, \u201cTommy Tune Tonight!\u201d<\/i> <\/span>Tune has sung and danced for three U.S.<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> Presidents, the Queen of England and the Royal Family of Monaco. He was inducted into the Broadway’s Theatre Hall of Fame, and has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Brian Heidtke<\/span><\/b> will receive the <\/span>Career Transition For Dancers’ Award for Outstanding Contributions to the World of Dance. <\/span>He has been an active member of the dance community for years, serving both as board trustee and as a financial supporter. <\/span>He is the Vice President and Treasurer of ABT and chairs its education committee. <\/span>He is also the recipient of the Lucia Chase Award. <\/span>He has been an active supporter of the international ballet competition Youth America Grand Prix and of the Kaatsbaan<\/st1:PlaceName> International<\/st1:PlaceName> Dance<\/st1:PlaceName> Center<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place>. Formerly the Vice President, Finance and Corporate Treasurer of Colgate-Palmolive Company, he is the Chair of the National Association of Corporate Treasurers and a board member of the Williams Capital Management Trust.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
